Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy

Introduction

Modern slavery is a serious and organised crime that destroys communities and causes significant harm to victims. It is the illegal exploitation of people for personal or commercial gain, and involves people being coerced and forced into providing a service to others. It is a crime that affects people of all genders, ages (including children) and ethnicities and is a violation of fundamental humanrights.

 

Zero Tolerance

FLAMINGO & OAK adopts zero tolerance to modern slavery and human trafficking, and all forms of corruption and bribery, directly and indirectly, associated with these criminal acts.

 

FLAMINGO & OAK is committed to ensuringthat Clients’ money does not inadvertently fund this criminal activity and is committed to protecting vulnerable workers in any supply chains that the company is involved in from exploitation or harm.

 

FLAMINGO & OAK believes that everyone has a right to be treated with dignity and respect at all times and under all circumstances and seeks to ensure the highest ethical standards of integrity, courtesy and mutualrespect are met.

 

Definitions

Modern slavery is the term used within the UK and is defined within the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (the ‘Act’). The term is used to encompass slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, bonded and child labour and humantrafficking.

 

Human trafficking is where a person arranges, or facilitates, the travel of another person with a view to that person beingexploited.

 

Policy Aims

This policy provides a framework toensure:

  • All staff understand and are aware of their responsibilities in relation to modern slavery.

  • Staff follow the requirements of clients in terms of any modern slavery policies

  • Staff undertake any training required by clients as part of their modern slavery policy

  • Staff understand how to report instances (or concerns) of modern slavery.

 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

FLAMINGO AND OAK recognises that it is responsible for promoting ethical business practices and policies that protect workers from being abused orexploited.

FLAMINGO AND OAK seek to ensure that all organisations with whom it works ensure that their goods, services, materials and labour-related supplychains:

  • Fully comply with the Act.

  • Are clear, transparent, accountable and auditable.

  • Are free from ethical ambiguities.

 

Awareness and Training

FLAMINGO AND OAK will undertake any training required by clients in relation to modern slavery and Human Trafficking and will adhere to all policy requirements of clients.

 

Non-Compliance, Reporting and Victim Support

If any member of Staff is discovered to have breached this policy, then appropriate action will betaken.

 

Individuals who have reasonable suspicion or evidence of non-compliance with the Act are encouraged to report their concerns to sam@flamingoandoak.co.uk or to their client contact.
